I got this camera on sale for $65 and think it's definitely worth what I paid for it. At the retail price of $98, I think it's an okay buy, but I probably would not pay that much for it. This is an entry-level camera with a handful of special effects. If you're looking for a fancier camera that takes sharper photos, you should probably look at cameras over $100 retail. Even though it's a 2012 model and not being made anymore, at the time I'm writing this review (4/6/13) I recommend the DSC-W650 model over this one for an extra $21 (or less). Though megapixels and zoom are the same as this camera, the nicer lens on the 650 will give you sharper pictures. That being said, this camera also takes some pretty nice pictures. Images on the LCD screen may appear low quality while taking a picture, but images definitely look sharp once they've been taken. Sony a57 is a really fantastic camera.
Handling of the camera is excellent and the way better than any competitor.
Its design and built quality are simply perfect, it fits in hand ideally. Not only that it's easy shooting with various settings with a57 but it's also very pleasing.
The shutter is really quiet and smooth. The electronic first curtain shutter significantly decreases sound and vibration caused by shutter mechanism.
Articulating screen is very useful and once you get used to it's a very comfortable and necessary feature to have.

Viewfinder is more than good enough, although it's not as good as OLED EVFs we have seen in high-end SLTs but it's much better than competitor's small OVFs. Most important thing is that with EVF "what you see is what you get" unlike OVFs where you have no clue what your final image is gonna be like.
One more thing, manual focusing with traditional DSLRs is a really headache, it's almost impossible to get accurate...

I have been waiting for this camera for about 4 years. In 2008 I was looking for the best camera that excelled in both stills and video. I settled for a JVC camcorder which recorded in SD and took 5mp stills. I moved to a Sony SR-11 for HD and interlaced 10mp stills. I was unsatisfied with the stills of the Sony so I bought an Oly E-420 touted as the smallest DSLR to accompany my camcorder. For over a year I dealt with the cumbersome set up of camcorder, DSLR body, 2 lenses and a tripod with mixed results to boot.

Enter the GH2 and 2 issues were somewhat solved at once. The 1st problem was bulk and the other being image quality. The stills of the GH2 was a major step up to my Oly E-620 and the video quality was also significantly upgraded as a result.
